Over 40% of our State's budget goes to funding public education. As noted before, this money is being grossly mismanaged. There are two ways you can stop this. The first is by attending your local school governing board meetings and getting involved. A review of your property tax bill will inspire you to do this. The second is to nominate and elect fiscal conservatives and community activists to your local school governing boards. Alas, we missed the boat this year in my school district...Washington Elementary... but next time we won't.
I have had the honor of meeting a number of people that fit the above bill running for the following school boards. There are many more and if you know them please spread the word to help them.
Gilbert Schools: Ron Bellus...a long time activist and fiscal conservative. www.ronbellus.org.
Deer Valley Unified: Darcy Tweedy (veteran Conservative Teacher). Facebook.com/darcyfordv.
Kim Fisher ( Degree in HS and Accounting)
Scottsdale (SUSD) Kim Hartmann (CPA)
The Gilbert schools are leading the way to turning around local school boards by electing non rubber stamp members...Ron is just such a person.
Care Free and Deer Valley have been far too long dominated by their respective paid Superintendents. In fact, Deer Valley's Superintendent is actually actively supporting two other candidate (illegally I might add) that will continue to allow him to dominate the Board.
Scottsdale's failed bond issue is causing layoffs of teachers rather than a reduction in overhead (that large disparity of employees not involved in teaching that I spoke about).
If you live in these school districts, I urge you to look up these candidates and if you agree with me to support them.
All the Best
