About Jana Jackson (from her website)
Jana Jackson was born in Chicago Illinois. She and her 5 siblings were raised by Georgia and John A. Jackson, a decorated Chicago Police Detective. Her father John would often say “You live with the people you serve,” and so he and Georgia raised their family in the heart of the inner city. They were determined to raise their children on their core values, not those found outside their inner city home. Jana's family heritage instilled in her the values of integrity, hard work and perseverance, and a commitment to serving God, family and community.
Jana graduated in the top 5% of her high school graduating class of more than 500 seniors. She continued to maintain her 3.8 - 4.0 grade point average through-out her University schooling. Receiving honors at every academic level, Jana acknowledges with humility and gratitude the many individuals who have supported and contributed to her academic success.
Jana passed her Ph. D. comprehensive oral and written exams on the day Rosa Parks passed away. On that day she celebrated her personal success and the opportunities for young women made possible by the efforts of Rosa Parks.
For the past two decades Jana has worked across the nation for organizations ranging from her local church to NASA, Washington D.C. Headquarters. Her experience includes working on issues for special needs children, public education and community outreach, and efforts to improve education in American schools.
The depth and breadth of her business and education experience, along with her character, makes Jana an excellent candidate for Maricopa County's Superintendent of Schools. She pledges to bring to the Superintendent's office accountability, integrity, a strong work ethic and a commitment to serve.
