The movie, Serenity has some very good information about the dangers of big government and the agenda pushed by the UN supported International Baccalaureate program(me), though I don't think this is what the creator meant to do. He works in hollyweird after all...

This movie goes on to show how the government used a chemical in the air processors on one planet to make people "less agressive" but what they ended up with was folks who just laid down and let themselves die...except for the .02% that had a bad reaction to the chemical and turned in to super violent, super inhuman cannibals.

The moral of the strory: Social engineering, even when done for good intentions, always has unintended consequences that lead to great social horrors. 6,000,000 Jews were murdered by Germans in WWII for the betterment of society. The elitists in the Third Reich decided that Jews were an infereior subspecies. This had more to do with votes and the quest for power than anything scientific. Junk science is used as the excuse for all kinds big government schemes. In the name of "Going Green" the elitists now think it's OK for the government to bio-scan you everywhere you go, control the thermostat in your house, herd you into low cost high-density government subsidized urban housing (see "Agenda 21"), control your medical records, ban ammunition, control your car through systems like "Onstar", confiscate private land and the list goes on ad-infinitum. The founders were right to seek small government.
