Taking Back America By Taking Back Our Schools
One of the arguements i often see for the teaching of CSE is the "Knowledge is Power" theme. It goes something like this:
"Kids need to know as much as possible about sex in order to protect themselves against sexual predators"
So, with this kind of reasoning, we should teach children how to break into a house in order to protect them from burglers? Teaching children how to perform antisocial behavior will only increase their curiosity about such things. Is this what school is for? If your goal is to produce sexual predators and sex workers then by all means take that approach. But, seriously, no one wants that for their children (at least i hope not!).
Knowledge is power? So why not teach kids how to make a pipe bomb or teach them how to mug a pedestrian to protect them from muggers and terrorists? Yes, that kind of knowledge has power. However, if you teach evil, anti-social, or even self destructive behavior then you will likely produce a person who is a menace to society.
From a Biblical perspective, there are many verses that generally speak to this. Here are a few:
"Whoever seeks good finds favor, but evil comes to one who searches for it". ~Proverbs 11:27 NIV
"Finally, brothers and sisters, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable—if anything is excellent or praiseworthy—think about such things".~Philippians 4:8 NIV
"Don’t let anyone look down on you because you are young, but set an example for the believers in speech, in conduct, in love, in faith and in purity".~1 Timothy 4:12 NIV
