In Arizona, there has been only one association, the Arizona School Board Association (ASBA), for school boards and its members. ASBA was one of the organizations against SB1456 (HB2035) which expanded parental rights in sex education. ASBA condemned SB 1456 as a "tremendous overreach" and asked Governor Ducey to veto it.
There is now another association for school board members, Arizona Coalition of School Board Members.
Arizona Coalition of School Board Members’ mission “is to promote quality Arizona school board governance and to deliver excellence in traditional education that best meets the needs of the individual student. We will accomplish this by working with advocates, policymakers, communities, and parents. “
Here is a short video explaining why the association was formed.
School boards, individual school board members, parents and community members are welcome to join the coalition.
The Coalition Active Membership is for School Board and Charter District Members.
The Coalition Associate Membership is for parents, community members, teachers, administrators, and caregivers.
The PACC supports the effort of the Arizona Coalition of School Board Members to work with parents and “helping school board members put students first.”
