HB2035 was signed by Governor Ducey on the last day of the Arizona legislative session.
It has been one of the longest legislative sessions in Arizona history. Your continued efforts in contacting legislators and the governor has paid off.
We are so grateful for the leadership of Senator Nancy Barto in getting this bill through the House of Representatives and Senate twice! You can send her a thank you email here.
As a recap, HB2035 does the following:
- Protects young children from sexual content they are not mature enough to handle by prohibiting sex education in K-4.
- Provides transparency by providing easy access to related curricula both online and in person for schools offering sex education in grades 5 – 12.
- Currently sex education is opt-in. HB2035 requires the same for any sexuality-related instruction.
- Places other transparency measures in place to safeguard parental rights.
