National Council on Bible Curriculum in Public Schools

I received the materials & textbook from National Council on Bible Curriculum in Public Schools (NCBCPS). It's a big investment; over $100 to get the books, but you need the books to be able to see the curriculum to endorse it. Their basic plan is for any parent(s) who want to get it adopted by their school district, to get petition signatures, then present the petition to adopt the curriculum to the school board. It is a state certified elective high school Bible course. The NCBCPS President, Elizabeth Ridenour, contacts the presenters to the school board by phone, and leads them step-by-step through the process. The package includes the presentation to the board and materials, petitions, etc., and much more; endorsement letters; letters from legal foundations; they even include a comprehensive alignment table with the "AZ Academic Standards & Accountability."

NCBCPS also recommends certified Bible teachers in each state; the teachers are chosen and paid by the board, or by the private sector. The curriculum has been adopted in 92% of school districts where it has been presented, in I think 35 states so far.

Now that I have the curriculum (textbooks), we need to get as many people as possible to go online & call NCBCPS and request the materials to present to the school boards; I just have one copy. They only request a small contribution to get the materials, everything but the textbooks. I'd like to see us get this presented to every high school board we can. My vision is to see AZ become a leader in teaching the Bible curriculum in the schools.

When I called and asked about the materials to present to the School Board, I told them that you had gotten the whole package. She suggested that I make copies of some of the items you have and give them to the school board members. Does that sound feasible or should I go ahead and get my own?

I'm encouraging everyone to get their own set of materials for their school board; the more the better, in my mind...my vision is every high school in AZ; I'm hoping that the groundswell of enthusiasm for presenting to school boards will be such a tidal wave, that I would be inundated trying to keep up with the need for copies...:)

Florida school district bans Bibles on Religious Freedom Day
Maitland-based Liberty Counsel filed a lawsuit Thursday to overturn a ban on Bible distribution on public school campuses in Collier County. According to the Liberty Counsel, the Collier County School Board allowed World Changers to distribute free Bibles to students during off-school hours on Religious Freedom Day, but now the school officials claim that Bibles do not provide any educational benefit to the students and the distribution should stop.

The Collier County School District policy specifically allows the distribution of literature by nonprofit organizations, but only with the approval of the superintendent and the Community Request Committee, whose members are appointed by the superintendent. Approval was denied to World Changers, despite the fact that its distribution included a disclaimer of any school endorsement or sponsorship and that receiving a Bible was purely voluntary.

“How sad that on the eve of Independence Day, when we celebrate the religious and political freedom our forefathers won for us at the cost of much blood and great sacrifice, we are compelled to sue to protect the right simply to make free Bibles available to students in public schools,” said Mathew D. Staver, Liberty Counsel founder.
